PEACE of MIND, HAPPINESS and CONTENTMENT are hard to find and sustain in the world we live in. Today's hectic lifestyles, difficult relationships and pressures of modern living are taking their toll on us all; emotionally, physically and spiritually.
I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I have extensive experience of working in the NHS 'Talking Therapies' service and with a general counselling practice in the City of Leicester.
COUNSELLING can help with many common forms of mental health issues, such as anxiety, low mood and depression. The recommended number of sessions are between 6 and 12. This is not set in stone and can be extended if required. Your appointments would be weekly with each session lasting 50 minutes.
PSYCHOTHERAPY tends to be a longer term intervention (months to years) addressing concerns which have built over a long period of time. This may include depression, anxiety disorders, recurrent relationship difficulties, emotional eating and our ongoing dissatisfaction with life.
Our Journey to counselling may arise when we are faced with challenging and distressing times in our lives.
Relationship difficulties, Abuse, Bereavment of a loved one (human or animal) are some of the events that can initiate very overwhelming feelings.
Talking to a non judgemental counsellor about your thoughts and feelings in a safe and confidential environment, may help restore your PEACE OF MIND.
Feeling ANXIOUS, DEPRESSED, STRESSED or suffering with LOW SELF-ESTEEM can be where therapy begins. Once therapy is established, hopefully a trusting relationship is developed between us. My hope for each client is that therapy will allow us to work with your distress, enable you to become more self-aware and to make the right choices, for you, in your life. When we reach a stage of accepting our autonomy, we can move forward and, if we choose, find HAPPINESS.
Most of us don't plan a journey to therapy, sometimes the 'Road of Life' just takes us there. Not everyone seeks therapy to feel content. Some seek understanding, peace of mind, or to make some sense of their lives. Clients' may have used therapy before as a useful way to explore and understand themselves and their situations more clearly. Everyone can continue to use therapy as a source for personal development. I can offer a time, place and a relationship where together on life's journey, some of life's questions can be explored.
Talking about our feelings with a trained professional in a confidential setting
can really help alleviate some of our emotional pain and suffering.
